Who are we?

Our Mission

Mamunur Rashid
"1972 to 2022. The longest journey in the world also begins with a small step. What was a small step that day is 25 years old today. 50 years in a country of gum-mold-van-vasi-murder-terrorism-disaster, a bright point of hope amidst thousands of disappointments. The journey we started that day on an empty stage, holding only emotion and goodwill, is today a distant goal. Ignoring various disasters and hostile environments, we have walked the path in the joy of creation. Many disappointments and pains have tried to block our path but could not. We have been able to overcome this hostile environment only with the help of Aranyaka's dedicated workers, our dearest beloved viewers and well-wishers. Dear viewers, I extend my warmest congratulations to you. The child who was born on February 20, 1972, is fifty years old today. But fifty years of a theater group is more active and youthful than that. We are still walking the path with a huge responsibility on our shoulders. We believe that we will find you by our side in the future, just like in the past, on that long journey. Today, on this auspicious day, we want to move forward in our endless artistic journey with a commitment to walk the path with new conviction in the future.” Let the industry win Let people win Let the boundaries of art and life blend.

Aranyaka's slogan

Labor and industry are now in the hands of a few middlemen. The combined product of labor and toil, industry, has become a commercial commodity. The owners of this obscene and ugly industry have encroached upon the wealth of the people's lives. In order to strengthen exploitation from strength to strength, they have become much more skilled in its use. Today, the time is passing to break that stalemate. Aranyak believes that a theater worker, whether he is a playwright, a skilled actor, or a stagehand, has to live in some level of society. The position of an industrialist isolated from society is not only impossible but also unimaginable. That is why today we want to raise millions of voices - let the industrialists die - let the people get back their plundered wealth. Therefore, drama today is not just entertainment but a sharp tool of class struggle. Aranyaka made this slogan on the centenary of Karl Marx's death. The part is taken from a publication in March-April 1983. They had quoted various slogans before. But in the end they chose the current slogan.

Aranyaka's May Day

Aranyak Natyadal believes in the mantra that drama is not just entertainment, but a sharp tool of class struggle. That is, they practice drama believing in the ideology of imperialism, i.e. the liberation of the working class. That is why they cherish the ideology of the working class in their minds and dreams. May 1st is recognized as a special day for the working class all over the world. That is why the Aranyak Natyadal decided to celebrate May 1st every year. Since 1983, they have been celebrating May Day regularly. The first May Day celebration in the history of Aranyak, i.e. in Bangladesh, is a significant event.

1983, May 1st - then there was military rule throughout the country. Aranyak decided to celebrate May Day at the central Shaheed Minar in Dhaka. But the then military junta did not allow the celebration of May Day at the Shaheed Minar - rather, it prevented it. The Aranyak Natyadal then decided to celebrate May Day at the Bangla Academy premises near the Shaheed Minar. The first May Day was celebrated at the Bangla Academy with little publicity in the presence of theater workers, cultural workers and political activists. From the following year until now, i.e. until 2012, Aranyak has been celebrating May Day regularly every year at the Central Shaheed Minar. Aranyak Theatre Group created history in the history of Bangladesh by celebrating May Day.

Aranyak was the first theatre group or cultural group to take this initiative. Aranyak produces one new path play every year on the occasion of May Day. Most or almost all of the path plays that Aranyak regularly practices are produced on the occasion of May 1. Apart from the production of new path plays, poetry readings, recitations, and national songs take place in this event. Along with this, some prominent person, politician, intellectual, writer, artist of the country who believes in communism is present as a special guest and delivers a speech. However, Aranyak's new path play on May 1 is a major attraction for all classes of viewers. Participate in the production. Aranyaka's May Day celebration has now gained the status of a national event.

Aranyak Dipu Memorial Medal

At the age of just 28, a young actor and makeup artist with immense potential, Aminul Ehsan Dipu, died of jaundice. He was both a talented actor and a modern makeup artist who was gradually becoming enthusiastic about it. His unexpected death deeply shook the team. This death created a deep and painful situation in the theater scene across the country. A huge void was also created in our team. In memory of Dipu's contribution and love to the team, the Dipu Aranyak Smriti Puraskar was announced in 1997, on the first death anniversary of Dipu. Amimul Ehsan Dipu (28 October 1969-18 August 1996) The bird that awakens our sorrow. The boy who used to peer in wonder in his youthful days, the stage lamp in the rehearsal room, was calling him to burn to death. Then one day, somehow, he became one of the stage. Yet Dipu calls us again and again, an indescribable attraction takes us to him. What is that indescribable attraction? And so Dipu returns to us as the source of life.
